He was the coach of Santana Moss, Sinorice Moss, Willie Williams, Kenny Phillips, Eric Moncur, Glenn Sharpe, etc at Miami Carrol City HS....Anyway, he gives some real insight on recruiting and shares his opinions on Coker. How to evaluate kids in a 20 second clip? PM me please. I go to Risco park, North Dade, Scott Lake etc. trying to see potential 8th graders who will be coming in next year. Some posters have it mastered and if you don't mind I would like to know how to do a quick evaluation. Not only is the evaluation done on this board, it is done by those who never coached a single peewee league season. I have sent many kids to the pros and to D-1 colleges. I want your inside info. I will pay you for it.
I heard one poster say that they will not support Coker until he starts winning. I almost busted out of my overalls with laughter. Bottom line, Coker will be here at the UM for a while. I suggest you find another team until he is gone. I will continue to send my boys to Larry and Staff.
I learned a lesson in the late 80's and early 90's. I used to send kids to UF until Spurrier started kicking my guys off of his team. I sent guys like Teako Brown and Aubrey Hill to UF where they were mistreated. I trust Larry. I trust Bobby also. But, Larry is my type of guy. He will do what's best for the Student Athlete and then the team.
Please PM me and tell me how to read the star system. How to look at 15 second clips on rivals and evaluate a kid. Funny how we missed out on Torry Cox and Antonio Bryant who were 1 star guys. Those guys are in the league now. We missed out on Willie Middlebrooks who went to Minnesota and was drafted first round by denver broncos. Chad Johnson who went to Juco to qualify was never offered by UM. Pete, an old friend of mine will not let this happen again. These guys begged to come to UM. To hell with your star system. Keep the Miami kids at Miami and we will be OK. George Robinson is another Antonio Bryant. I've coached against his team. Hell, I've coached him. He is a carol City transfer. Morency was a RB here at Northwestern and Cecil Sapp played down south. We never offred these kids. They live and die to wear the U on their helmets. Sam the corner back for the dolphins comes over to do workshops. he has the U all on his cars. He roots for the U. madison played at Louisville and wanted to be a cane. he is from florida and was never offered because some regions don't get any love from Miami. I am giving them leads so that will change soon. Stars don't matter at all.Most of the guys giving out the starts will put a jock strap as a chin guard if you know what I mean.They never played the game

One thing you guys must know about Miami highschool teams and WR's. We are usually running teams down here. We really don't have guys putting up great numbers. We are option teams with an athlete at QB. The last decent QB to come from a Miami team was 1997 Rohan Davey. He was a pure passer. Wanted to come to UM. How do I know? Because I coach against his uncle Nigel Dunn. He is Norland's head coach.But, Look at Santana Moss. He did not put up great numbers. Pat was our best WR.
George left CC because we didn't throw the ball as much. Central threw the ball but didn't have a great passer so his numbers were low. Antonio Bryant didn't put up great numbers if I can recall correctly. Miami HS usually puts their best athlete at QB and tell him to go. George is a steal. Trust me. If he comes in to work, the sky is the limit. He knows he is the best out there so he doesn't work as hard.He will now. he can be a star.

Every coach in the tri-county speaks highly of Coker. The coaches he fired speaks highly of Coker. I've coached against Sol for years when he was at Southridge. Sol does a SAT camp for athletes at my school. He is sad but he still has nothing but good things to say about Coker. I was blown away when I read some of the things on here about Larry. But, I then said these things came from people who didn't know LC.

Andre Johnson is actually from Carol City and should have gone to American Sr. or Carol City. In fact, he was a QB for a while. Then Roscoe showed up and played the position. Roscoe was a highlite film might I add. But, that is a great example of what we do in Miami. We put our best athlete at the QB position. Nigel Dunn was his coach at Miami Sr.

is messing up so of your brains. I've been coaching football for over 30 years in the city of Miami and it seeems like most of you guys can evaluate talent by watching a 10 second video clip.
The internet has some of you guys head in a whirl wind. Before this internet crap came about, we would learn about the new recruits after signing day in the local news paper. We would see their accomplishments and be happy with who we got. Well, that has changed. We have a committ from Arkansas who broke every kind of record imaginable and we still have complaints. What's the difference between his accomplishments and Devlin's? The fact that Devlin was known by the sites a assume.
I often laugh when I read this board. I've met Larry Coker personally and actually sent kids to play for the guy. He is a great coach and a great person. I actually encourage my players who are being recruited by UM to go there. I know that they will be taken care of on and off the field.
I had to find out the hard way when it comes to fans and their expectations. Bottom line, you can't win every year. You will lose some close ones. Hell, you may even lose to teams you are not suppose to. But, when you understand that and make adjustments is when you know that the coach is maturing. I tried to understand where most of these fans are coming from but couldn't. I tried to come up with a coach that has won every single year and never had a decline. I couldn't. My team goes up and down. I win and comptete for the big dance, then I fall off due to rebuilding.
1 thing for sure. The kids that Miami recruits are the top kids in their area and state. The are not recruiting just anybody. Just because they are not nationally known does not mean they are not good players.Maybe just maybe Coker and staff will hire an OC that knows how to bring the best out of their recruits.Wait and see.
